The band features the talents of guitarist extraordinaire Pat Hawkins (Thaetas, Aberrated, Needlepusher, Kyrios) and bass virtuoso Kyle Linderman, as well as drummer James Applegate (Windfaerer, Replicant) and vocalist John Dunn IV (Abominism, Dark Waters End). I hope you will find a part of yourself here. The ever-interesting musical palette (and palate) of I, Voidhanger Records will become even more distinctively varied on April 7th when the label releases Siren To Blight, the debut album from the NY/NJ avant-garde death metal band Asystole. And once there are enough of them, maybe we'll put them nicely together, combining them with a different form of art. For now, let them be, let them exist, listen to them and let them enter your consciousness. Detached from the framework of an album release, they shall resemble puzzle pieces, fragments of something bigger, which will take shape later. The songs will be released once in a while. Yes, it will draw influences from those known worlds but it will also be the beginning of a new path, a new dimension, a new way to search for peace. It's an opportunity to create a different music world.
"Subcutaneous songs" is a collection of compositions not connected with Riverside or Lunatic Soul. I would like to start a cycle of such songs with the one called "The Song of a Dying Memory".
For me, the most intimate, "subcutaneous" compositions have always been the ones with calm, subdued vocals performed with acoustic guitar or piano accompaniment. There are as many ways to find music connection and understanding as there are souls. Then there are those that get under your skin, fill you up and become a part of who you are. Some compositions are best observed and admired like works of art.
